Tibby’s New Orleans Kitchen

Another day, another lunch… The associate and I wandered down to Aloma ave. on Sunday (3/6/2011) to try to hit yet another foodie inspired spot. On the menu this time was…

Tibby’s New Orleans Kitchen.

Upon arriving in the shopping plaza that Tibby’s calls home, we found a newly built Publix and a dine-in movie theater, as well as your normal strip mall compliments. We hopped out of the car and did a slow walk by as I usually do with a new place I have never been to, I like to get a feel from the outside first to see if it’s worth stopping in. We strolled by the couple tables outside and could not see inside due to the tinted glass windows completely obscuring a view of the interior. This simply peaked my curiosity even more, then a group of 5-8 well dressed adults came out raving among themselves about the meal they has just eaten, this was enough to get me inside.

Vibrant Decorations

Upon entering I was very surprised to see that the bleak view from outside hid an extravagantly decorated and fully packed house inside. Walking up to the front podium I could smell something that made me want to rush the first table and taste away but I would contain my excitement for the moment and take notice of the waitress and the seating, both of which were flawless. A table for two was available immediately and we were seated.

Our waitress was prompt and courteous, The menu was simple and not over complicated. They has several delicious looking appetizers, though Associate Ex felt there should be a crawfish appetizer so he inquired to our waitress about it. “Make it happen”, he stated and she replied she would see what she could do and whisked herself off to the back, returning moments later with an idea from the chef for a crawfish dish that sounded terrific.

Crawfish Appetizer

And so our newly designed appetizer arrived, crawfish dipped in a seasoned batter then fried to a golden brown and sprinkled with a mustard remoulade. One bite and I knew they had a winner, this HAD to go on the menu. We devoured our appetizer, and as we did placed an order for two hurricanes. The drinks arrived and to Associate’s as well as my delight they were PERFECT, well made strong and cold.. the picture of Mardi Gras. After a few sips I began to relax and take a good look around, the place was packed and the decorations were awesome. A mix of culture and art, paintings from Louisiana artists and decorations from Mardi Gras floats adorned the walls. When our waitress returned we ordered our main dishes, I took the Crawfish Etouffee and Ex took the Andouille Sausage Jambalaya, we finished our drinks and within minutes our food arrived and so did the second round of hurricanes. Crawfish Etouffee

Crawfish Etouffee  came with a slice of toast and rice and was Delicious! It was spicy, but not too much.. it was savory, but just enough. There were PLENTY of crawfish in there as well and I had one in almost every bite, it was excellent all in all. Associate Ex was dutifully chowing away at his Jambalaya and sipping his hurricane with a contentment I rarely see in him. This was truly a place I can honestly say I WILL be back to.

The Ravenous Pig – Worth The Wait

The Ravenous Pig – Worth The Wait

Ravenous Pig - Places to Eat OrlandoMy Fiance and I went to the R.P. for dinner. The atmosphere was great, though we did wind up waiting about 20 minutes for a table. This was offset by the ability to sit at the bar and enjoy a Left Hand Milk Stout while waiting. The Truffle Fries are excellent, thou the ones at the bottom of the glass get a bit soggy.

The Lobster Taco’s were superb and I could clearly live on them night and day. Waiters were prompt and polite and service was wonderful in general. It is after all a gourmet gastropub and you can feel the superiority in the air but if your used to fine dining it just feels right.
